Thornes Marketplace

These renderings were completed for a retail revitalization project, Thornes Marketplace in Northampton MA. I worked on this project while at Anderson Porter Design. The restoration was of an historic mill building. It entailed creating a restaurant in the courtyard, re-cladding the existing interior staircase, all new interior finishes, and creating gathering spaces. I also created a logo for Thornes, which will be used as the sign for the market and as graphic way-finding.

After showing the client several fonts to use for the sign of the market, I proposed a more personal approach. Using sumi ink and a bamboo pencil, 'Thornes' was written out until the right look was achieved. The logo will be used as the sign for the market, and for graphic wayfinding.
